Video-appeal of residents of the Ukrainian village Kolosovo to defense their Orthodox church
July 26, 2015 Kolosovo village of Kremenets district (Ternopil, Ukraine) people recorded an appeal, requesting to leave alone their church, which extremists are trying to take away.
This once again said the villagers, which gathered and recorded a video message adressed to the president of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko and to the leader of the “Right Sector” Dmytro Yarosh.
“I would like to meet personally with Mr. Dmitro Yarosh, who created the “Right Sector”. Maybe he doesn’t know, so I appeal to him don’t come to us, and don’t put pressure on our village chairman Julia Yuhimina. What do they want from us? We want the true Orthodoxy. They reproach us that we pray for Cyril. Patriarch doesn’t need our prayers! We just pray together with him and all over the world Orthodoxy. That’s all! Cyril will pray for himself. They reproach us of Putin? Where do we have Putin here? Maybe he lives in our village? It’s funny and sad at the same time, “- says a resident of the Kolosov village.
Villagers want to report to the government and right-wing radicals, that they are disputing for their rights on their land.
“We know that we don’t change anything. We know that no one will help us. But we are like a stone thrown into water and leaving the circles on the water. We want to leave a trace of our existance! Of our little community of Kolosov village, Kremenets district, Ternopil region. We are alive people! And we will live. And let us pray as we want and that no one disturbs us “, – said the villagers.
Also villagers angered by attempts to initiate a split in the countryside and lead the community to join the “Kiev Patriarchate”.
“I respect the Kiev Patriarchate. Moreover, I respect those people. However, it is not ours, it is other’s faith! I can’t say that it worse than ours, or better, I’m not God to judge. But it’s not ours. And we want it to be like that, as it has been in the time of our grandfathers and great grandfathers. There is no need to call us names. If you want, you can create your faith, pray as you want, and made God help you “- says one of the women of the village.
“And let it be heard by all the people. Let the “Right sector” hear us. Why do they come here? Let them look in people eyes! “- said indignant villagers.
“What kind of state within a state is it here? What a kind of power unit is it, which no one can control. Let them show us their statute, which proves they right to intrude in the religious relations of citizens. Bring us a statute and show it. If you have such right, then we will agree. But if you don’t, why are you are coming here? Why are you teasing us and exhausting our spirit? “- said villagers from the Ternopil region, referring to Yarosh.
“We are ready to die for our faith. We don’t want to take away something. However, we want to keep our faith. We are a small community, and let God be with us “, – assured the residents of Ternopil.
