Ural ‘voodoo master’ goes on trial for public insult of religious feelings of believers’

February 19, 2016. The case of ‘voodoo master’, who sacrificed a rooster in Yekaterinburg (Russia), was brought to court by the prosecutor’s office. According to the information from prosecutor’s office, the man known as the ‘Voodoo master’ publicly decapitated a rooster and sprinkled its blood upon Orthodox Christian funeral pall October 2014 having previously invited the representatives of mass media. The case was filed under ‘public actions, expressing obvious disrespect for society and committed in order to insult religious feelings of believers’, ria novosti reports.

Prosecutors intend to ask the court to send him for treatment in a psychiatric hospital. The representative of Sverdlovsk region investigation department of the Investigative Committee, in turn, informed RIA novosti that there had been a number of examinations like cultural, religious and other carried out. The representatives of the media who were present at the ceremony were interviewed as well.
