Ukrainian Court held the violation of rights of the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

December 8, 2015. The court found violation of the rights of believers who are under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the case of the seizure of the church in Rivne region (Ukraine), as the official website of the UOC MP reports.

On March 1st, 2015 in the village, Chudnytsya Goshcha district of Rivne region radical people entered into the church of Saint Paraskevi and removed from the walls the icons, they pushed the lectern and toppled from the Gospel. Following these events, the UOC community was not able to have its church.

Believers have applied to the police. The police did not bring it to the register of pre-trial investigations. In June 2015 the UOC community representatives filed a complaint with the Goshchansky District Court, which ordered an investigator. However, the investigating police station Goshcha V. Kralkovskyy illegally closed the case again, as the interviewed representatives of the Kiev Patriarchate were involved in the capture of this Orthodox church.

The court recognized the illegal actions of the investigator and ordered him again to resume the investigation.

According to the Department of Information of the UOC, on 19th October the decision of the Economic Court of Rivne region was declared invalid the certificate of ownership and the decision of state registration issued by the religious community “Kiev Patriarchate” in the village Chudnytsya Goshcha district concerning St. Paraskevi temple. The faithful of Chudnytsi had to make protest actions and to block the road Kiev – Chop in order to be able to pray in thier church.
