The opening of proceedings under Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigations are ongoing

December 31, 2016 –The police in Uman (Ukraine) received a notice that a plaster of Jesus Christ was found damaged on the shore of a pond.

An investigation team was dispatched to the crime scene. It is headed by the Regional Police Head, Valery Lyutim.

A criminal case was registered under Article 161 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, entitled “Violations of citizens’ rights based on race, nationality, religion, disability or other grounds”. Individuals guilty under this article could face up to eight years in prison.

Investigations continue.
