The Holy Ascension Cathedral vandalized

February 8, 2018. On July 26th, 2017, a 20-year-old man used the spray mist to draw “Allahu Akbar” and swastika signs on the property of the Holy Ascension Cathedral in Naberezhnye Chelny, the Republic of Tatarstan. The drawings were found by parishioners next day. Having read the signs, the clergy decided to call the police. The law enforcement authorities examined the sight and opened a criminal case. Using the records of CCTV, police found shortly delinquents who appeared to be a 20-year-old man and his 17-year-old companion. The young man was placed into custody during the trial process while his companion was considered as witness.

On February 8, 2018, the young man was found guilty for vandalism and insult to the feelings of believers and sentenced to 320 hours of community services.
