February 15, 2016. The police of Kazan (Russia) are searching for a robber who got into Yaroslavl Miracle-Workers church, located in the territory of Arskoye cemetery, as the website Interfaх-Religion reports.
“According to the preliminary data, donation boxes were broken and gold jewelry, hanging on the icons, was stolen” says the Press Service of the Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for Kazan.
Rector of the church Archpriest Alexei Chumakov said that the value of missing objects was not in themselves, but rather its symbolism. “For us it is important not the gold and jewelry, but the evidence that people received assistance from the miraculous image”, as reports Business Online.
A range of investigation procedures is being carried out. The procedures are to substantiate the fact of the robbery and arrest the suspect. The damages are being assessed.
