Nationalists from S14 block the entrance to Kiev-Pechersk Lavra
January 10, 2018. Nearly 30 persons in balaclavas from the ultra-right organization S14 (Sich) blocked the entrance to the caves of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and blocked the barrier, reports ”Hromadske”.
“There were verbal skirmishes and a small scuffle. The protestors let a few cars enter, which, according to them, do not belong to the Lavra’s employees,” the correspondent of the Internet TV channel reports.
The viceroy of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Vladyka Pavel, tried to talk with right-wing radicals, but the conversation was reduced to verbal skirmishes. Also to the entrance of the Lavra came about 25 seminarians and began to sing a Christmas carol “The Son of God was born.”
There were law enforcers on the scene. Later, the protesters lit the flares and began chanting “Get away the FSB from the Lavra” and “Glory to the Nation …”. On the continuation of the chant, which ends with the words “… death to the enemies!”, the video recording ends.
On March 16, 2017, the parties of Svoboda, Right Sector, National Corps, and several other nationalist parties and organizations signed a manifesto, where they declared joint efforts to create a single local church with a center in Kiev and the construction of a national Ukrainian state. S14 lobbied this document.
Earlier, ex-associate of Karas, nationalist Dmitry Reznichenko accused S14 of working for the SBU and persecutions at the commission of intelligence services. Afterwards leader of the ultra-right group Yevgeny Karas admitted his collaboration with the SBU, specifying the fact that “they inform not only us but also Azov, Right Sector and so on and so forth.”
In November 2017 nationalist ultra-right organization S14 was put on the list of international terrorist organizations.
