Metropolitan Onoufry urges to end the war of defamation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
December 29, 2015. On the annual assembly of Kiev Diocese, Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and all Ukraine has spoken about the issue of defamation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as press service of the UOC MP reports.
“Today all of us are witnesses to the open and planned informational war against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, using unchecked and sometimes even slanderous information,” the Primate said at the annual meeting of the Kiev Diocese. According to him, such actions lead to “growing tensions in society and threaten internal security and stability in the country.”
Metropolitan Onoufry urged clerics to actively denounce such false information and stated, “Certainly, your own life should not give any grounds for journalistic or public discussions. You should be as careful as possible to not give any reason for conflicts and pay maximal attention to your flock.”
