Deputy destroyed Orthodox worship cross in Tatarstan

July 20, 2016. A 57-year-old Pyotr Kuznetsov said that he didn’t like the look of the Orthodox monument, as Life news reports.

The Investigation Department of the Investigation Committee in Tatarstan opened criminal proceedings against the deputy Pyotr Kuznetsov, who cut down the worship cross in the village Tashkirmen Laishevo region. A 57 – year-old man is accused of vandalism.

It turned out that Kuznetsov is the director of the local enterprise “Laishevsky fish farm” and is a deputy of the local council of the municipal district. Нe didn’t like the look of the Orthodox cross, so he decided to take it down.

The law enforcement agencies commented that during the interrogation Kuznetsov told the investigators that he didn’t like the aesthetic appearance of the Orthodox cross. He also said that the cross was installed without his consent.

With regard to the deputy house arrest was elected as a preventive measure.

The six-meter high worship cross was set up on July 12 in honor of the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. The next day, the monument was taken down and left in the same place where it was installed.
