Arson prevented in an Orthodox monastery in Ukraine

October 26, 2015. A church guard found bags for garbage buried in the ground when he was passing near the walls of the Protection Monastery in Kharkov (Ukraine). Those bags had five bottles with flame liquid, which were ‘Molotov cocktails’, as the information service of UOC of Moscow Patriarcate reports.

The priest Dionisy Zaloga, staff member of the Diocesan Administration, underlined that the officers believe that a terrorist act was prevented.

“Flame liquid was found in five-seven meters from the monastery wall, there are diocesan and monastery buildings, and the oldest in Kharkov the Protection Cathedral behind them. It proves that unidentified people are ready to commit an arson of church buildings any time”, he said.
