Acts of violation against Orthodox believers

January 9, 2016. In the village of Ptichia, Rivne region (Ukraine), the supporters of the so-called “Kiev Patriarchate” attacked to the pilgrims of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and beat them. The Union of Orthodox Journalists was witnesses of the incident, as they report on its official website.

The conflict between the believers of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the supporters of the so-called “Kiev Patriarchate” began the night before, after the arrival of a bus with pilgrims from Kiev.

According to witnesses, the drunken dissenters began to insult visitors and threatened them with violence. Drunken men tried to beat the police officers. On 9th January, in the morning, at the time of the procession, organized by pilgrims from Kiev, the supporters of “Kiev Patriarchate” beat the believers. A pilgrim, whose name is Gorchuk Irina, was attacked and beaten. The victim was hospitalized. Police officers arrived and they are examining the witnesses.
