Vandalism in an Orthodox Chaplain

February 24, 2016. Unknown vandals broke the icon of Saint Gerasimos, which is located in the chaplain of Saint Gerasimos in a hospital of Athens (Greece), as the website ekklisiaonline reports.

This chaplain was built in 1905 and the icon of Saint Gerasimos was made with the art of vitro. The vandals didn’t try to steal anything.

The spiritual and cultural importance of this chaplain is huge for Athens because Saint Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia was priest there for 33 years. The icons of this chaplain are considered as a piece of art as they were created from the one of the most famous Greek painters Fotios Kontoglou.
