Reaction of the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece to the political statements against the relics of Saint Barbara

May 13, 2015. The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece decided during its second session for the May, that all its members will go with the Archbishop Hieronymos II to venerate the relics of Saint Barbara as the website of the Holy Synod reports. The veneration decided to take place before the beginning of the third session of the Synod as a symbolic answer to the hostile attitude of political persons as reports ecclesia.gr.

While he was leaving from the Church the Archbishop was asked by the journalists about the political reactions concerning the relics. More specifically he was asked about Mr. Filis’s statement (Parliamentarian Spokesman of the Syriza). The Archbishop answered that “whoever thinks that he can make a separation between the State and the Church in such a hard way he is going to regret it”. He also mentioned that “those who speak against the relics are men of words and not of actions and we have heard already enough words” reports newsit.gr
