Orthodox Bishop protests for retaliatory actions the day of Epiphany

January 6, 2016. For the first time, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation did not broadcast the Liturgy of Epiphany in the port of Piraeus (Greece), as the website romfea reports. This day in Greece, the centre of the feast is the Diocese of Piraeus because there is held every year the blessing of water in the sea with the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, the Prime Minister of the Greek State, the Archbishop of Greece, Ministers and Deputies.

This year for the first time, no one was present in the ceremony and the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation did not broadcast the Liturgy of Epiphany, because the Prime Minister was very discomfort with Bishop Seraphim, who disagreed strongly against the new law for same-sex marriages.

Bishop Seraphim accused the government for vindictiveness, spiteful and fascist manners. According to his statement, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation belongs to Greek people and not to the government, which interfered in order to prevent the broadcasting of the ceremony.
