Arson to an Orthodox Church

March 23, 2016. An arson happened to the church of All Saints in Kallithea, Athens region (Greece), as the website romfea reports.

According to the testimonies of the witnesses the arson happened from Arabs refugees. The fire brigade arrived very quickly and the fire was under control. The kitchen of the church was destroyed. The rector and the other priests who serve in this church were there from the first moment of the incident.

The vicar of the Archbishop of Athens, Archimandrite Simeon Voliotis condemned the incident and communicated with the authorities in order to be informed. “We demand the protection of our churches and the attribution of the responsibility for what happened”, said a representative of the Archdiocese of Athens who spoke in romfea.

The rector of the church of All Saints, father Timotheos Maheriotis expressed his gratitude to the Police, the Fire brigade and all the laymen who contributed to extinguish the fire.
