A refugee demanded from an Orthodox bishop to remove his Cross

March 22, 2016. Metropolitan of Kesariani Daniel (Greece), denounced that a refugee demanded from Metropolitan of Piraeus to remove the Cross that he had on his monk hat, as the website romfea reports.

During the session of the assembly of clergymen in Volos, Metropolitan of Kesariani Daniel said that Metropolitan of Piraeus Serafim went to distribute food to the refugees in the port of Piraeus. A refugee approached him and demanded asked him to remove his Cross from his monk hat. Metropolitan of Piraeus expressed his discomfort to the authorities and asked how is it possible to ask from him to remove the Cross while the authorities tried to calm the refugee.

Metropolitan of Kesariani continued by reminding to the assembly that Archbishop of Athens and All Greece went to Piraeus also to give food to the refugees without his Pectoral Cross (encolpion). He underlined that Orthodox Christians in Greece have to be very careful because soon the situation will become very difficult.
